The Two houses were part of an old Public House, known as “The Railway Tavern”.

This is thought to be in The Grove in Drighlington.

This was Humphrey’s Farm

This bungalow was build in ca 1920 for Mr Sam Grayson, farmer and butcher. The Kingsdale Estate in the background was completed later.

These were opposite the Kingsway Estate.

The field is now the site of Drighlington Infants School and a Junior School was proposed post 2005

This house was sited on the moor above the park. The Barisford Family lived here until it was demolished.

Book which illustrate the History of Morley Borough between 1886 and 1974, the time at which Morley ceased to be a Borough and became a part of Leeds. David Atkinson was born in Morley in 1937 and lived there all his life. He worked in the area as a schoolmaster and was interested in its local history all his life. He wrote 4 books on the subject and numerous newspaper articles. Besides this he amassed a large collection of photographs, many of which have been copied onto the Leodis web-site.

Morley Borough became a part of Leeds in the following year from April 1 onwards. The card was designed by Stanley Townend, a local printer and a member of Morley Round Table.

Peter Walsh was the teacher of this group of children. Mr Walsh was a long-time member of Morley Local History Society and wrote many articles, some with dialect content.for the society journal.

These are opposite Moorland Road. The single house on the left was a shop owned by Mrs Goodall from the 1940s to 1960s. The room over the passage was demolished around 1990.

9 July 1986. The winners were Morley High School and the losers were Horbury. Mr Jack Brumfitt is behind Mr Atkinson, with white sports jacket, blue open necked shirt. He was the grandson of TK Brumfitt. Geoff Green, in the blue checked shirt, is between George and Jack. Then at the back [L/R]: Bernard Smith, Stan Townend and Les Jackson can be seen on either side of the winning captain. Laurie Castle is obscured by Mr Atkinson.

This was the last occasion when the Borough of Morley gave freedom to any person, a custom which had begun in the 1890s. A full PDF file of the whole programme is available on request.
